Located in Southeast Wisconsin and conveniently located within a fifty minute drive of both Madison and Milwaukee, Whitewater is home to the Kettle Moraine State Forest and the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Kettle Moraine State Forest provides numerous, year round activities such as biking, camping, cross country skiing, hiking, and fishing for the outdoor enthusiast. The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater (UWW) has an enrollment of over ten-thousand students in undergraduate and graduate studies. UWW is nationally known for its programs in business, education, arts and communication.
The Irvin L. Young Auditorium on the UWW campus is a premier arts and performance center that has hosted renowned performers such as the Milwaukee Symphony, The Second City and The Nutcracker. Additionally, the Fireside Dinner Theatre, located in Fort Atkinson, is only ten minutes away from downtown Whitewater and hosts Broadway shows such as Guys and Dolls, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and On Golden Pond.
Whitewater's population of thirteen-thousand is a progressive community that is committed to providing its residents with a high quality of life. Concerts in the Park, Family Fun Nights, Fourth of July Festivities, numerous park and recreation programs are but a few of the activities that local residents and visitors participate in throughout the year.
The Community Development Authority has energized development within the Whitewater Business Park and throughout the city, creating additional employment within the community, which has spurred an increase in new housing. The City of Whitewater in partnership with local community groups has developed an indoor aquatic center, bike path, and a skate park.
